Good Friends - kweaver 06

This poem is written for my dear friends whether near or far

Good friends are the ones you can count on
Good friends are the ones who care
Good friends are the ones who will laugh with you
With whom the tender moments you share

Good friends don’t care what you look like
They just want to be close by
Good friends are the ones you can lean on
They hold you if you need to cry

You don’t need clever conversation
Sometimes you don’t need to talk at all
Good friends celebrate and cheer for you
And help you up if ever you fall

Good friends you just can’t live with out them
And no matter how far you may part
Good friends are the ones you can call upon
They don’t stray very far from your heart

It doesn’t have to be everyday contact
Even if time slips on past
Yet with good friends you just pick up again
Where ever you left off last

I may not have spoken to you sooner
But I can honestly say
There isn’t a day that passes
When I don’t think of you in some small way

Good friends, I know we are
Good friends, we’ll forever be
Good friends don’t come by often
Thank you for blessing me.

A poem from Christmas 2005 - On that Night- kweaver

On that night a star did shine
To announce to earth the event Devine

The baby laid in a manager lo
Was sent because He loved us so
The angels sang with all their might
To welcome Him that Holy night

Born a birth humble and plain
He came in flesh to forgive our shame
No store bought gift could replace
The very moment of our Lord’s grace
Only the animals there did see
The One who was born to die for me

Christmas Eve Reflections - kweaver

As I sit by the fire at Christmas and reflect
Santa is my focus yet there’s someone I neglect
He was born long ago in a run down shack
He died, He rose and one day, He’ll be coming back

Yet my focus shifts quickly to the jolly old bloke
Who comes down the chimney in his white and red cloak
The one who is silent also wears white and red
But it’s because His robe is stained by the blood that He shed

Santa welcomes children each to sit upon his lap
They put in their requests as the camera’s lens snap
He checks each name twice to make sure they deserve
The present or the item they put on reserve

The quiet sideliner also welcomes every child
With open arms of gentleness and patience so mild
He knows each one’s name, every hair on their head
No checking is required He gives unconditionally instead

Santa pops up and down the chimney with a touch to his nose
Hauling around his magic sack of toys wherever he goes
He travels through the night faster than light
With his eight tiny reindeer leading him in flight

The humble Son of God does not have a magic wagon
Or an entourage of reindeer or a sack that He is dragging
He stays right beside me and never goes away
His gifts are eternal and available each day

At Christmas time it’s fun to play the Santa game
But it’s really about Him and how in flesh He came
To deliver me from my sins and wash them all away
That tiny little baby who in a manger lay

I sit here by the fire and feel the warm flame on my face
I remember Him more clearly and His abundant grace
I remember His gentle manner and the way He calls my name
I remember the Holy night when my saviour Jesus came.

Silence - kweaver Oct 06

My mouth is opening yet words do not exit
My heart is beating yet love does not exist
I hear myself talk yet You do not hear me
My actions speak louder than my voice
When I turn my head You do not even know
that my mouth is moving
When I cast my eyes downward
pretending that I do not see You
You notice and a tear rolls down Your face
Emptiness fills both our hearts for a love not shared
A precious moment in time when my voice is silenced
A choice I make that takes me one step further from You.

Deep calls to deep - kweaver

The river rushes over the pebbles in the shallow brook
A soft white foam lingers in the peaceful gentle flow
It's path drawn out by the maker's pen
It drifts onward, being called to it's destiny

The stream waits impatiently for it's rendezvous
And as the two bodies mesh the bubbling brook embraces it's mate
The crystal clear water gets deeper and moves briskly
Deep calls to deep

The quick flowing water rushes forward
Not knowing why or where it is headed it just continues on
The river surges and moans with excitement as it accelerates
Celebrating it's journey until the river bed drops
Deep calls to deep

The water cascades over the edge
Creating a mist as it bounces off the sharp rocks that line the river wall
The force of the landing creates a spray
Moistening the grassy edge of the water's pathway
Deep calls to deep

The river's mouth opens as it kisses the salty sea
Rushing waves capture the ecstasy of the union
The river rolls, entangling itself with the sea
There is no beginning, there is no end
Deep calls to deep

Meeting it's destiny, it has enjoyed the peace
Endured the pace, experienced the pleasure and weathered the pain
Not knowing the direction but always trusting
Propelled by the maker's majestic authority
Deep calls to deep

Northern Lights - kw

Aurora Borealis dancing, oh so high
Purple hues majestic, Magic in the sky
The artic wind blows gently ore the tundra street
A spectacular most lovely, a delightful northern treat
Glistening reflections on the crisp white snow
A windowpane of stain glass, illuminated by moon glow
If you look more closely, you might dimly see
A doorway unto Heaven amongst the jubilee

West Winds Blow - kweaver 06

The golden prairie wheat stands tall in the field
Creating a patchwork quilt that lay over the vast prairie
Endless labour to maintain a hearty crop is carried out
Yea though the west winds blow and tousle the harvest
Still the relentless protection continues
There is only so much that can be done to safeguard the bounty
The wind can be a partner spreading seed that multiplies the yield
Or an enemy pushing the stalks down and damaging their stem
Yet there is no way to halt the west winds that blow
The strong stalk will endure while the weak is abolished.

The west wind strums the tender strings of the field
Playing the instrument in a carefully orchestrated symphony
The seeds are planted, nutrients are provided and the wind blows
The music is written. What harvest will this bring?
It is but a mystery until the return is counted
Only the conductor knows what profits will be reaped.

So rest in the wind for it is part of the symphony of life
If you listen closely you will hear the sweet music
Played out as planned long ago
The composition of the west winds that blow.

Soda Pop - kweaver

Fizzy Soda Pop
Gotta drink it up
Bubbles ping my nose
Fizzing as it goes
Some pop is good for sickness
Too much sugar counts for thickness
Clear ones, diet ones and flavoured
So many to be savoured

Stuff it - kweaver

Today was just one of those days
My head was clogged, I was in a haze
There's so much to do yet no time to spend
It sometimes feels like there is no end

What is there to do about this horrible mess?
There really is only one solution I guess
Laugh it off and shrug it away
Fluff it, stuff it, call it a day

No worry is worth it, life is too short
So adjust the attitude and be a good sport
It can only go up, if you started at down
Put on a smile instead of the frown

Fluff it, stuff it, call it a day
Not much you can do about it anyway
The next minute you have starts a new book
So why not start it off with a more positive look!

Today was a rough one, I do declare
But I think that there's something new in the air
Like a fresh springtime rain that washes away
the stuff that I stuffed from the previous day!

Angel Wings - kweaver

She flies on the wings of an angel, away above so high
Looking down on all of us from the big blue sky
The clouds are her pillows, all fluffy white and warm
There she finds sweet freedom, away from any harm.

The sunbeams are her golden hair, glistening fair and bright
The rainbow is her glorious smile, so full of love and delight
The morning dew, her gentle kiss and the twinkle in her eye
Shines ever so beautiful, decorating the night sky.

The flowers of spring are blooming to celebrate her love
From heaven’s gate she watches and guides us from above
The wind her gentle laughter floating through the air
The breeze her sweet whisper so soft and free from care.

No more can you feel her touch but the magic is not gone
For everywhere around you her spirit lives on
So when you hear a bird sing or feel the wind in your hair
Your tiny angel’s telling you that with you, she is there.

The touch - kweaver

A tiny hand reaches up
Toward the heavens sky
And is met with a larger hand
Of our Lord and God most high
The fingers gently linger
Barely touching yet
But the magnitude of gesture
Too powerful to forget
Like lightening bolts and thunder
Meeting in mid-air
The spiritual connection
That God and men share
More love than man dost know
Our God can give away
Just reaching out toward Him
Is more than words can say.
And the power of that single touch
Shows miracles come true
Just take a look at what He’s done
To save me and you.

Sit - kweaver

The wind blows and shuffles through the tree
The gentle swaying of each leaf
Stop and listen to the wind blow free!

The rose bud is blooming and spreading each petal
Stretching and opening to a beautiful flower
Stop and smell it as it comes to a settle!

Raindrops are falling from a grey cloudy sky
Pitter patter on the roof tops
Stop and feel it, as it floats by!

Fresh bread is rising and soon will bake
Pastries, tarts and cherry pie
Stop and taste them, the sweet cake!

God’s creation, there is nothing like it
All things unique and wonderfully made
Stop and look, be still, and sit!

New Moon - kweaver

As the new moon rises and settles in the sky
The promise of a new hope is slowly creeping nigh
It’s a feeling refreshment and of brand new vitality
As the moon glow cast it’s light down for all to see
It’s not about what’s left behind although it’s smart to know
The past will shape our future but it’s forward we will go
To face a new horizon, a plan that’s still to come
As we listen for the beat of the maker’s drum.

Where does it lead us, well that we’ve yet to find
Of places that we’ve dreamed about and visited in our mind
Of hopes and dreams that are forming even as we speak
The future holds a new chance and new adventure yet to seek.
The unknown frontier we head toward knowing He will lead
Here’s wishing you the best of luck to forward with Godspeed.

Dangerous Place – k weaver

I go deeper into my self
What do I find there?
It is the most dangerous place

Sometimes light and airy
Sometimes dark and scary
But deeper I go until I am no longer

Is it a mask that I wear?
Or is it deeper? What lies beneath?

Sometimes happy and glad
Sometimes sorrowful and sad
But deeper I go until I am no longer

Who am I now? What can I see?
Is it so dangerous? Or is it just me?
Do I peel back the layers for all to reveal?

Sometimes relentless and strong
Sometimes weak and wrong
But still I go deeper until I am gone

Unaware of my outsides, focused on inside
Where do I run? Where can I hide?
A place where only One knows me

Sometimes with laughter and fun
Sometimes alone with no one
Yet deeper, it’s hard to imagine

How can it keep going on?
And endless pit of me I find

Sometimes loving with care
Sometimes wishing no one was there
It’s a most dangerous place

I maneuver through cautiously
Turning over, poking, examining
All the endless parts of who I am

Sometimes a “want to be”
Sometimes I’m only me
Where do I go but deep into my soul
What do I find in this dangerous mind?
So much to grow and change
So much to rearrange
But I won’t give up on this journey I take
“Cause at the end I will find me
In this dangerous place, where I set myself free.

gotta catch up

Well, I got a little behind in my posts the last few days - it's been so busy.
So now I'm gonna have to catch up.
Sorry about that.

Who has a job – that I could do? – k weaver

Who has a job that I could do?
I’m tired of searching through and through
I was defined by my position and now I am exposed
I don’t know what to say when people get close

Who has a job that I could do?
I’m starting to feel so down and blue
I thought I was stronger, I thought I was smart
But now I feel different, it tears me apart

Who has a job that I could do?
Maybe I should try something new?
I’m not sure I can do it. I’ve never tried that before
How do I get there? There’s so much to explore

Who has a job that I could do?
Hey I could do that and this too
But is someone out there who really wants me?
How do I find them? Where could they be?

Who has a job that I could do?
I’ll look up people I once knew
I’ll plan it out carefully, focus on what lay ahead
There are lots of resources and books to be read

Who has a job that I could do?
You wouldn’t believe that it was true
I wrote it all down all my that’s and my this
All neatly displayed, how could I miss?

Who has a job that I could do?
I’m not sure who’ll come to the rescue
I’ll call up a stranger at a company of desire
Maybe they’d look at me for their next hire

Who has a job that I could do?
I’m getting some leads, well at least a few
And now I have confidence and my heart is perking
Maybe real soon I’ll be working!!!

The Road Leads Home - k weaver

It twists and turns up ahead, lined with big trees of oak
It curves around the rivers and lakes, spread out like a cloak
The dust has settled and the streams lie still, the road up ahead is paved
It twists and turns up yonder hill, a waiting adventure to be braved.

This road leads home, the sign post reads, a lovely path lay ahead
Past rickety houses and run-down shacks, in front of us is spread.
The mountains rise and fall around, the valleys plunge so low
This road leads home the sign post reads, off past the horizon it’ll go.

To the weary traveler who longs for rest, the sun beams gleam and glisten
And the birds sing quietly as we pass, if we take the time to listen.
So it’s the destination we long for, but we can easily slip past
Life experiences that greet us because we’re traveling too fast.

This road leads home; it’s up to us on how we desire to travel
We can choose the journey ahead, either by dirt, payment or gravel.

Twirling- kweaver

Twirling, Twirling until I fall down laughing
Laying on the ground watching the clouds passing
From my green grassy mattress; my clover bed
Do I really see the world turn or is it all in my head?

Carefree and restful as I watch the birds fly
Time seems to stand still, yet the clouds still roll by
Holding hands with my best-friend having nothing to say
Just drinking in the smells of a lovely summer day.

Rolling down a huge hill at an incredible pace
Trying to be the winner of a very silly race
Reaching the bottom all covered in grass
Triumphantly celebrating coming in last

Nothing to do but dip my toes in the lake
Sitting on the dockside for an afternoon break
Drinking lemonade and telling stupid jokes
Riding my bike with the straws in its spokes

Climbing trees and picking flowers to pass the day
All the neighbourhood kids rally to play
Hide and seek or Red Rover we’d play with great zest
Until the street lights turned on and we’d go home to rest.

One day after the other, lived with such desire
Enjoying the warm summer nights by the camp fire
Singing a few songs accompanied by someone playing the guitar
Wishing upon the first evening star.

These are the times that I hold dear to my heart
The memories run through my head at each summers start
And as I watch the kids now their summers day passing
Twirling and twirling until they fall down laughing.

Rock my world - kweaver

Rock my world Jesus, make me strong
As you walk Jesus let me walk along!
For I long to be with You spending every waking hour
Jesus rock my world, You’re my heart’s desire

I stood in awe as you healed the sick
I marvel how you brought sight back to the blind
Jesus you rocked my world
You freed the demons from my troubled mind
Jesus your rocked my world
When you stood up in the crowd
You didn’t even flinch when they started getting loud
You calmly took control and spoke Your Father’s word
Falling on the lost ones, it wasn’t even heard

Jesus you rocked my world
‘Cause You love me like You do
Unconditionally, sacrificially, love so true
For all the wrongs that I have done You stood and took the blame
Jesus, Lord I thank You and I call out Your name
I praise You for the love You showed through all the pain
Even though You died for me You rose to live again!

Rock my world Jesus, make me strong
As you walk Jesus let me walk along!
For I long to be with You spending every waking hour
Jesus rock my world You’re my heart’s desire

I praise You for the love You showed through all the pain
Even though You died for me You rose to live again!

The Dance of the Angels - kweaver

The lights of heaven sparkle as the music plays
The gentle beat is strumming as the body sways
There’s a party that is being prepared, the best to be seen
The streets are paved with the finest gold; the grass is the greenest green

The song is the sweetest sound as heard by every ear
The angels are all dancing as more and more appear
The dance floor is full of angels who circle round the King
They dance like no one is watching, with love for Him they bring

They can not stop, their love is great, they offer up their best
For the dance that they are performing is to welcome a new guest
The angels of the heavens all move in rhythm as one
As they lift up their hearts to the Father’s Son
The guests will increase daily to wait by His side
For the day when He is ready to take upon His bride

The guest today is a loved one who asked Jesus his soul to save
Who reached out for forgiveness and took what Jesus gave
An invitation to this feast, and much more than this
To see the angels dance for Him in eternal bliss
To rest in everlasting happiness and celebrate the love
For the Father, Lord and King who reigns from above

The best part is the knowledge that there is still chance
To join the angels of heaven in their holy dance
And sit beside Jesus and together join the sway
Until the sweet reunion that will come again one day.

Note from the author - kweaver

By now you have probably noticed that I am posting each day. My goal is to post a poem that I've written every weekday for the month of April to celebrate National Poetry month. After that I will continue to post but not as frequently.

The other cool timing thing is that it is Easter, so I am also celebrating and worshipping with poetry. (have you noticed the theme? LOL)

We have so much to be thankful for and there is someone who loves us unconditionally no matter what we've done. I want to introduce you to Him through poetry.

If you already know Him then perhaps the poems will reinforce or inspire you in your walk. If you don't know Him then perhaps the poems will encourage you to seek Him out.

I can never justify in words the magnitude of His love or the power of His entire being. I can only give you a little taste from my own viewpoint in hopes that you will find it on your own.

To have all this is as simple as A-B-C
Admit that you have done wrong things (sins) and that you need forgiveness.
Believe that Jesus is the son of God and that He died to wash away your sins and that He rose again on the third day and Lives!
Choose to accept Jesus as your Saviour and to learn and grow in His word. You can do this by reading the bible (knowledge), talking to other Christians (support and mentorship), talk to God regularly (prayer) and going to church (fellowship).

If you pray through this, telling God all of the above, you will be a new creation. If you've done this - Congratulations! Now go and tell someone (perferably another Christian) what you have done and seek out as much information on His word as you can - you will grow in His love and by His word. You can check out the link to Walk in the Word ministries for further information.

I wish you all a Happy Easter. I hope you enjoy the poetry!

Do you see Him? - kweaver

Do you see that man, the one over there?
The one with the white robe and curly dark hair?
Yes, that one, the man sitting under that tree
He’s bouncing that little child on his knee.
They say He’s Messiah and they call Him “Master”
They say He’s the One; He’s the Lord and Pastor.

I heard Him preach yesterday, down by the lake
Some say He’s the real thing, other’s say He’s a fake
He said that He loved us and if we believe
He promised us eternity when this life we leave
They say He does miracles, made a blind man see
I wonder if He could ever love someone like me?

Oh look! He’s coming this way, toward this very place
With a kiss on my cheek and a warm embrace
As if He can read my mind, He softly begins
“I know you, beloved. I know all your sins.
You’ve knocked at my house and I’ve opened the door.
Now you are forgiven, go and sin no more.”
He moves through the crowd, like a gentle breeze
Greeting sick ones and the lowly with comfort and ease
I still feel His presence even after His depart
I still feel His love deep down in my heart.

Do you see that man, by the leper’s side?
He is my Saviour, my Lord and my Guide.
He’ll always be near, wherever, I be
He’s mine and I am His for eternity.

(Matthew 7:9 and Matthew 25:40)

Reach for me - kweaver

I reach for you
Come and take my hand and walk with me
I will lead you to eternity

Reach for me as I reach for you
Extend your hand, come and follow me
Together we can weather any storm
Amid the rising waves, I’ll make them calm
And rest upon the water safe from harm

Reach for me
Trust in me and I will never leave
All you have to do is just believe
If you reach for me I’ll reach for you
And you will see just how life is really meant to be
A simple touch and I can set you free

I reach for you
Knowing that my love for you is true
All I want is to be with you
Forever hand in hand we could be
If you only reach out to me

Carry Me - kweaver

The words pierce like arrows through my heart
It’s cold and dark and I’m torn apart
There’s sadness so deep within my soul
Each breath becomes harder to control
Where do I turn to? Where can I hide?
When I feel so hurt and alone inside.
The tears burn as they run down my face
I’m so tired from running this awful race.
Tripping, stumbling so far behind
So filled with sorrow the end I can’t find

Who will love me once again?

I long for the One that will melt my ice
For my Father above to pour out His advice
No words but His can handle the feat
He is my refuge, my rock, my retreat
Turn my face up and feel the bright sun rays
And guide me to You for the rest of my days
Pick me up and hold me close to You
With Your strength I will make it through.

Carry Me!

Around the Corner – k weaver

Around the corner and down the street
Are tons of people yet to meet
The world is such a busy place
It’s not always easy to find a friendly face.

Who do you know? Who have you to greet?
Around the corner and down the street
Do you stop and wave Hello?
Or do you pass with your eyes down low?

Was that a smile or a friendly nod?
Or just a look to say: “You’re odd!”
And life moves on no skip of beat
Around the corner and down the street.

Did you pass the lady there?
The one with the blue eyes and hollow stare
It’s been a week since she’s had something to eat
Around the corner and down the street.

And what about the guy on the right?
He has no bed to sleep in at night
And phantoms haunt him, he can’t defeat
Around the corner and down the street.

A child who has no Dad or Mom
She cries each night and feels so numb
All she wants is a safe retreat
Around the corner and down the street.

And what about the troubled teen?
Who pierces her body and dyes her hair green!
What does she look for as she pounds the beat?
Around the corner and down the street.

Oh the troubles lives are easy to ignore
As we round the corner and shut our door
And tomorrow we’ll wake and our routine repeat
Around the corner and down the street.

Around the corner and down the street
Are tons of people yet to meet
Take Jesus on your next hike
And see what the world will then look like
There are tons of people yet to meet
Around the corner and down the street.
