The Road Leads Home - k weaver

It twists and turns up ahead, lined with big trees of oak
It curves around the rivers and lakes, spread out like a cloak
The dust has settled and the streams lie still, the road up ahead is paved
It twists and turns up yonder hill, a waiting adventure to be braved.

This road leads home, the sign post reads, a lovely path lay ahead
Past rickety houses and run-down shacks, in front of us is spread.
The mountains rise and fall around, the valleys plunge so low
This road leads home the sign post reads, off past the horizon it’ll go.

To the weary traveler who longs for rest, the sun beams gleam and glisten
And the birds sing quietly as we pass, if we take the time to listen.
So it’s the destination we long for, but we can easily slip past
Life experiences that greet us because we’re traveling too fast.

This road leads home; it’s up to us on how we desire to travel
We can choose the journey ahead, either by dirt, payment or gravel.
